HOW THEY WORK AND WHEN TO INSTALL THEM
They are both air/water separators made by Dürr, and you can install them on your dental unit in some cases. Let’s explain which ones.
THE CS1
If you have a dry suction system in your clinic, you need an air/water separator. On our dental unit we install the CS1 at the chair base, connected to the suction cannulas, the suction system, and a drain pipe from the other side. It is just an air/water separator and can be installed with a selection valve if more dental units are connected to the same suction motor.
THE CAS1
This is the definitive solution: the CAS1 is everything! It also works like a spittoon bowl valve, a selection valve, and an air/water separator, and collects amalgam. All-in-one! On simple&smart dental chairs, the CAS1 is installed in the water unit thanks to a customized water unit frame. It is connected to the spittoon bowl and the suction cannulas and manages the selection for both. It also works like an air/water separator: such as the CS1, at the chair base is connected to the suction pipe (to the dry suction motor) and to a drain pipe. But the amalgam that passes through the suction cannulas or in the spittoon bowl remains in the amalgam collector at the base of the CAS1 under the water unit, in this way, the dentist can remove easy amalgam that can’t be drained into the net of wastewater.
