Which is the best machinery solution for a clinic with 2 dental units?
One solution is to install a large suction system and a large compressor (each of which can power two dental units).
But, if you have enough space, you can use two small suction systems and two small compressors (each of which can power just one dental unit). In the latter case, in the event of a breakdown of one machine, a unit can still be used; however, this solution has two disadvantages: two machines for each type, even if smaller, cost more and take up more space than a larger one.
With more dental units?
The ideal would be a suction machine and a compressor for every two units: in case of breakdown, just two dental units stop working.
Considerably one larger machinery can also be installed but, if there were a breakdown, the entire clinic would be stopped.
Our tip is to install one suction system and one compressor as the cheapest solution and/or if there is not enough space for all machines.
And what about the type of suction system?
We will advise against the liquid suction system and would use instead a wet system, unless it is essential to install a dry aspiration system.
-The liquid system generates a huge waste of water because it is also powered by it.
-The wet system is the best solution: it only needs power supply and can works with liquids.
-The dry system needs an air/water separator to work. It is better than the liquid one and it has an extra advantage over the wet type: the suction machine can be placed on a higher level than the unit.
Remember Venturi system needs more air to work!
Being an outdated system, we recommend the use of a suction machine.
If you have a Venturi-based suction on your dental unit, you need a compressor that can power two dental units, only for it.
We have two kinds of Venturi systems:
–Air/Air: both suction cannulas are connected to valves that work by air.
–Air/Water: the strong suction cannula (the big one) works by air, the weak one (the small) works by water.
Venturi system works in this way: use air (or water) passing through a valve makes a depression that makes the suction possible without the implementation of a suction machine. But the dental unit needs more air to work! More or less double. The double air system needs more air to works. The air/water system needs less air, but it also needs water to works; However, the compressor works less in this case.
